The derby between PAOK and Olympiacos is heading for postponement, and SPORT24 presents the most likely scenario for the new date.
The big derby between PAOK and Olympiacos for the 23rd matchday of the Stoiximan Super League is heading towards postponement, following a request submitted by the Reds to the League, which will be discussed at the Board of Directors meeting on Thursday afternoon (15/02, 15:45).
It is reminded that Olympiacos hosts Ferencváros on Thursday (15/2, 19:45, COSMOTE SPORT 3, SPORT24) at Karaiskakis Stadium in their first match for the intermediate round of the Europa Conference League, and the rematch will take place in Budapest next Thursday (22/2, 22:00).
It should also be noted that Ferencváros requested and received a postponement for their own match against Diosgyori in the Hungarian league, so they will have no competitive obligations between the two significant European matches against Olympiacos.
On the other hand, PAOK is not opposed to such a possibility. PAOK has the derby against AEK on Sunday, hosts Panathinaikos tonight (19:30, COSMOTE SPORT 3, SPORT24) for the first leg of the Cup semifinals, and after the scheduled derby against Olympiacos on Sunday (20:30), they have the rematch against Panathinaikos at Leoforos on Wednesday, February 21 (19:00).
The most likely date in case of postponement
In case Olympiacos’ request is accepted, there will have to be changes in the dates of the league matches, with narrow margins, since PAOK also has European obligations on March 7 and 14 for the Round of 16 of the Conference League.
Based on current data, the most likely scenario is that the derby will take place on Wednesday, February 28. This date has been set for the 25th match day, which will be moved to the weekend of March 2-3, while the 26th match day will take place on March 9-10. This means that the playoffs and play outs will start with a one-week delay, specifically on the weekend of March 16-17.
