Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister, has condemned the assassination attempt against former US President Donald Trump.

”Appalled by the attack on former President Trump,” Mitsotakis said on X, formerly known as Twitter, adding that ”Political violence is unacceptable in our democratic societies.”

Mitsotakis also expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.

”We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the bystanders who lost their lives or were injured in the attack,” the Greek Premier noted.

Mitsotakis also wished Donald Trump a ”full and swift recovery.”

World leaders condemn Trump assassination attempt

The Greek Prime Minister was not, of course, the only one to condemn the assassination attempt against former US President Trump.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron said in a statement: ”My thoughts are with President Donald Trump, the victim of an assassination attempt.”

The French leader sent him his wishes ”for a speedy recovery.”

Macron added that ”a spectator has died, several are injured. It is a tragedy for our democracies. France shares the shock and indignation of the American people.”

German Chancellor Olaf Sholtz noted that ”the attack on US presidential candidate Donald Trump is despicable,” adding that he wishes him ”a speedy recovery”.

”My thoughts are also with all of those who were affected by the attack. Such acts of violence threaten democracy,” the German leader stated in a post that he uploaded on Sunday morning on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The newly-elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: ”I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes.”

Starmer added that ”Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack.”

Minutes after the incident, US President Joe Biden expressed his strong condemnation for the assassination attempt.

”I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.  I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well,” Biden noted.

”I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety,” he added.

”There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it,” the American President concluded.
