The largest and most famous Christmas fair of Greece, the ”Mill of the Elves” in Trikala is counting down for its spectacular opening for the Christmas season of 2024.

The city of Trikala in central Greece is once again preparing itself to transform into a magical winter wonderland as the well-known ”Mylos ton Xotikon” (Mill of the Elves” is going to capture everyone’s attention.

Set to open its doors on November 29, 2024, and run until January 5, 2025, this year’s event promises to be more enchanting than ever.

The heart of the Christmas festivities in Greece’s most famous Christmas fair is the historic Matsopoulos Mill.

The Matsopoulos mill in Trikala is a former industrial flour mill dating back to 1884.

Each year, this impressive structure and its surrounding area are transformed into a fairy-tale Christmas village, complete with beautiful twinkling lights, festive decorations, and a number of attractions for visitors of all ages, from the youngest to the eldest!

Greece’s Trikala Christmas fair has something unique this year

It all began in 2011, at the very peak of Greece’s financial crisis, when the local authorities of the city of Trikala, in Thessaly, decided to offer something bright at a particularly gloomy time for the citizens of the country.

Each year since then, the municipality of Trikala, along with the organizers of the theme park and its sponsors, have prided themselves on giving joy to millions of visitors.

This year’s theme, “What goes ‘ho ho ho’ on the rooftops?” introduces a delightful new element to the festivities – cats!

Copying Greece’s famous saying ”what meows on the rooftops?” the Mill of the Elves are adding a new twist to this year’s Christmas celebrations. These feline friends will be taking center stage, interacting with elves and even Santa Claus himself, along with the entire fairy-tale setting of Greece’s most popular Christmas fair.

Visitors can expect to see a number of performances that will include acrobat cats, magician cats, dancer cats and even meowing singers as they explore the park and offer moments of joy to its lucky visitors.

The Mill of Elves offers a wide array of attractions, including the Ice Kingdom, featuring Santa’s headquarters and a frozen castle, the delicious Kingdom of Sweets with a chocolate and candy-filled delight, the Chocolate Factory, where visitors can create their own treats and many more.

People will also be able to visit the Kingdom of Toys, where toymakers and a giant music box will offer beautiful moments to children and obviously the famous Christmas Market with dozens of stalls selling gifts and treats.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy amusement rides like carousels, roller coasters, and Ferris Wheel attractions, which visitors have loved throughout the years.
