Darnell was born on July 26, 1982 in Warren, Ohio, United States. It was named after Brooks Robinson, a baseball player who aspired to be an actor. He is the eldest son among three sons. His mother Doreen Rogers pushed him to become an actor. At a very young age, she learned acting and dancing.

Despite being a heartthrob and having countless admirers, Brooks is yet to embark on a married life, leaving everyone curious about the secret of his bachelorhood.

When he was 16, he traveled to New York to perform in a talent hunt. Her performance earned her a scholarship to study acting at a renowned conservatory theater school in San Francisco.

After high school, he enrolled in a pre-med program under a sports scholarship. However, his football career ended when he suffered an injury. In 2001, she dropped out to pursue acting as a career and signed with BMG Models, a talent agency based out of Chicago.
