At its Adobe Max conference on Monday, the company revealed an array of AI-powered features across the Adobe suite.

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro are all slated to receive significant AI upgrades that could forever change how the Adobe suite works. Adobe’s Firefly AI model is completely revamped to meet the changes hitting the creative cloud, and it will have a generative AI text-to-speech video generator.

Photoshop already implemented one of its AI changes with the new distraction tool. The new tool has been added to the Remove tool, and it identifies what it considers distractions such as people, wires, and branches and removes them with just a simple click.

The new AI Adobe suite

Photoshop is the only member of the Adobe suite to have one of the AI upgrades thus far, but more than a hundred are set to arrive throughout the creative cloud over time. Photoshop has already had the Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generate Similar, and Generate Background tools in beta for some time and has finally integrated them into the app permanently.

With the new permanent integration of these features comes an improved Firefly Image 3 AI model that expands the variety of generated images and realistic quality of photos. The new Firefly Image 3 AI Model can also understand more complex prompts, an ability that could be seen in Firefly in general, as the changes across the Adobe Suite will utilize the AI model.

The rest of the Adobe Suite will see many AI-powered upgrades. For instance, Illustrator is getting a new Objects on Path feature to give users more flexibility when aligning objects along a path. The AI feature will ease arranging, aligning, and moving objects along a path. Image Trace, one of Illustrator’s main features, will also be upgraded by AI.

Meanwhile, the Firefly Video AI Model will give Premiere Pro, another member of the Adobe suite, a massive AI upgrade. As of Monday, the generative AI video tool will be available on the app in beta form.

The generative AI video model has been trained on Adobe Stock’s library and will also learn from the beta. The model will be accessible as part of the Generative Extend tool, letting users extend their videos by generating parts that AI will create entirely. However, it is only meant to help users extend their videos by a few frames.

The way it will work is that the AI generates a few frames of extension by analyzing the footage already in the video and what directly precedes the extension to generate the best possible footage.
