Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway was spotted on the island of Hydra, Greece, enjoying her holidays with her sons Jonathan, eight, and Jack, four, and her husband Adam Shulman.
The 41-year-old actress was photographed by paparazzi as she boarded a yacht, owned by Valentino co-founder Giancarlo Giammetti.
She was seen with her family and friends at a cafe on the picturesque island in the heart of the Saronic island group just south of Athens.
Hydra is full of elegant mansions and historical points of interest. It has also been a filming location for the “A Girl in Black” and “Boy on a Dolphin” movies and the main holiday destination of the renowned singer Leonard Cohen, who owned a house in Town.
Island-hopping in Greece to continue for Anne Hathaway
Reports say that Hathaway and the family will be visiting other Aegean islands aboard Giammetti’s yacht.
Hathaway’s accolades include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Her films have grossed over $6.8 billion worldwide, and she appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2009. She was among the world’s highest-paid actresses in 2015.
In her two film releases of 2023—Eileen and She Came to Me—Hathaway played emotionally troubled psychiatrists. Eileen, based on Ottessa Moshfegh’s thriller novel of the same name, starred Thomasin McKenzie in the title role and premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
Hathaway described the project as “Carol meets Reservoir Dogs”. Terming the film a “perverse folie à deux”, Ryan Lattanzio of IndieWire believed that “Hathaway has never been better in a role that feels […] tailor-made for her”.
At that year’s Berlin International Film Festival, Rebecca Miller’s romantic comedy She Came to Me, was released.
Hathaway’s first release of 2024 was as a grieving mother coping with the loss of her son in the thriller Mothers’ Instinct. A remake of the 2018 Belgian film, she co-starred with Jessica Chastain. Hathaway created a “protective layer” between herself and her character, requesting for cast and crew members to refer to her by her character’s name as she deemed the loss of a child her “worst fear”.
A Devil Wears Prada sequel?
Her holidays in Greece come after comments that Hathaway had made about the possibility of a Devil Wears Prada sequel resurfaced after it was reported that a follow-up to the 2008 film was in the works.
The Oscar winner spoke about a potential sequel back in March of this year while attending the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
She didn’t sound optimistic about the possibility of returning to the world of the hit film, which grossed over $326 million on a budget of just $35 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
“I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen,” Hathaway said bluntly while chatting with E! News.
However, she seemed optimistic about working again with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt — she just didn’t appear to want it to be as their Devil Wears Prada characters.
