Archbishop Elpidophoros of America traveled to Milwaukee on Monday to deliver the invocation at the Republican National Convention.
“At the 2024 Republican National Convention, we ask our Lord to grant unto the nominee, President Trump, and to his advisors, wisdom, grace, and the spirit of service to embrace the needs of all Americans ”for every person’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness,” the Archbishop captioned a number of photos from the event on His official account on X.
His Eminence’s invocation at the Republican National Convention continues the long-standing, traditional invitation for the Archbishop of America to give an invocation at both Republican and Democratic party conventions prior to the presidential election.
Archbishop Elpidophoros warmly welcomed at Republican Convention
The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wiskonsin, took place as planned in the shadow of the tragic events of Saturday, June 13, when a perpetrator attempted to assassinate former President Trump, injuring a number of participants and taking the life of bystander Corey Comperatore.
Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed the offer of his “heartfelt prayers for the speedy recovery of President Trump and the victims of this most tragic shooting” on X before traveling to the convention.
After receiving a warm welcome in Milwaukee, His Eminence prayed that our “Almighty and Eternal God… Look down now upon this gathering of our Nation’s political leaders, and grant them illumined hearts and minds, as they strive to serve their fellow citizens through this Republican National Convention.”
“Grant unto the nominee, President Donald J. Trump, and to his advisors and counselors, wisdom, grace, and the spirit of duty. That they may embrace all Americans’ needs, shining the light of good government upon the venerable institutions of the “world’s best hope” for everyone’s life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness,” Archbishop Elpidophoros continued.
Donald Trump officially becomes Republican nominee
Two days after his assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Donald Trump officially became the Republican nominee on Monday at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
The former US president picked JD Vance as his running mate for the upcoming November US Presidential election, as announced on his Truth social media platform.
Also on Monday, Trump’s infamous classified documents case was dismissed by Florida judge Cannon who ruled that the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith was not appropriate and violated the Appointments Clause of the American Constitution.
In this 2022 case, Trump was accused of illegally retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate and allegedly obstructing FBI efforts to recover them.
