Charlotte has become a key city in US politics in the last decade. At last night’s rally, President Donald Trump changed his rally discourse to focus on his election rival Kamala Harris.
President Donald Trump repeatedly mispronounced Kamala Harris’s first name and described her as “more radical” than Joe Biden. The former President also referred to the Vice President as “a danger to democracy.”
Additionally, former President Trump has focused his public rhetoric on his failed assassination attempt, which, he says, has changed him. ” I became nice,” he said.
He also explained, that “when you’re dealing with these people, they’re very dangerous people when you’re dealing with them. You can’t be too nice. You really can’t be, so if you don’t mind, I’m not going to be nice, is that okay?”
Kamala Harris likewise attacked President Trump
Kamala Harris has also changed her political rhetoric and is now fully focusing on facing former President Trump at this year’s general election. In her first major speech, Harris used her background as a prosecutor in California to assure the public she knows what she’s up against.
“I took on perpetrators of all kinds—predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain,” she said in Wisconsin in her speech. “So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.”
Vice President Harris also attacked Donald Trump on social issues. “We’ll stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans because we trust women to make decisions about their own body and not have the government tell them what to do,” Harris said.
The Vice President also vowed to “restore women’s reproductive freedoms” and sign this into law.
Donald Trump’s response to Kamala Harris’s attack
Trump did not take this attack lightly. The former President decided to retaliate in a very personal fashion. He went on to call Kamala Harris “Lyin’ Kamala Harris,” officially earning her a “Trump nickname.”
Some of these previous “hit” nicknames include “Sleepy Joe Biden” and “Crooked” Hilary Clinton. These nicknames have been very efficient in differentiating Trump’s political rhetoric from other candidates.
He also told his rally attendees that Kamala Harris “is a radical crazy person” on social issues. He heavily focused on issues of gun rights and women’s reproductive rights. Trump also labeled Harris as an “ultra-liberal” candidate.
However, Trump did not hold his punches. The former President questioned Kamala Harris’s ability to lead by comparing her to Joe Biden. He said, “Just like crooked Joe Biden, Kamala Harris is unfit to lead. She’s unfit to lead, she’ll destroy our country in a year, and this country will be destroyed.”
