How did the Dutch woman go missing on Greece’s Samos?

The 65-year-old Dutch woman went missing on August 22nd after going on a hike around the area where she was staying.

According to local media Samos Voice, the woman had told a friend of hers that she was planning to go for a walk around the Tunnel of Eupalinos, also known as the Eupalinian Aqueduct and then return to Pythagoreio, where she was staying at a hotel.

A rescue team from the Greek police, the local fire brigade, and a group of volunteers, along with a team of Dutch experts who offered their assistance, began their search after being informed by a friend that she had been unable to come into contact with the missing Dutch woman following repeated attempts.

The friend reported that the missing woman had not returned from the hike and seemed to have switched off her phone.

Earlier this summer, in June, another Dutch national went missing on the island of Samos, only to be found dead shortly after.
