President Biden may be on the way out as politicians and those in the public eye, including George Clooney, have noted his health is declining and he may not be fit for office.
Both former speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and actor George Clooney have spoken out about President Biden, saying he needs to make a decision about whether to stay in the running for November’s [residential elections as doubts about the state of his health have been raised.
After his somewhat strange appearance in June’s presidential debate against Donald Trump, Joe Biden has repeatedly said he will remain the candidate for the Democratic Party, which is torn over his candidacy.
Pelosi, who still has huge influence in the party, has previously stated it is “legitimate” to ponder whether the president’s health may affect his abilities while in office and suggested today that he may retire.
“It’s up to the president to decide whether to run,” she told MSNBC. “We are all urging him to make a decision because time is running out.” But she did not take a solid stance on the subject, saying, “I want him to do what he decides and that’s how it will be. It doesn’t matter what he decides, [and] we will follow it.”
Lots of Democrats have voiced doubts about Biden’s health, with seven lawmakers going so far as to publicly ask him to withdraw his candidacy. On Tuesday night, senator Michael Bennett of Colorado joined the calls.
George Clooney on Biden
Even George Clooney, a prominent member of the US Democrats, has called for Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential running.
“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As vice-president and as president. I consider him my friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his ethics,” wrote Clooney.
“Over the last four years he’s won a lot of the battles he’s faced,” Clooney wrote in an article for The New York Times.
He added:
“But the only battle he can’t win is the battle against time. None of us can. It pains me to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the charity event was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man which we all saw in the debate.”
The President, however, seems not to be thinking about moving aside and has even said he remains committed. “I’m not going anywhere,” the US President said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe chat show.
Biden’s performance in the presidential debate against Donald Trump caused a stir among Democrats and ultimately resurfaced doubts about his abilities as a leader. Biden began the debate with a cracked voice. He looked confused and also gave confusing answers. After the debate, Democrats began voicing their concerns, and quite a few are calling for him to step down.
