Libra’s George Logothetis to Be Honored for His Philanthropic Work

George Logothetis, the Executive Chairman of Libra Group and Chairman of Libra Philanthropies, will receive the “Philanthropic Award” at the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations (FCAO) annual testimonial dinner.

The event will be held on Friday, September 27 at Terrace on the Park. Supreme President of AHEPA Savas C. Tsivicos will receive the Justice for Cyprus Award.

The Philanthropic Award recognizes an individual with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct financial support, demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take up philanthropic leadership roles in the community.

The Justice for Cyprus Award recognizes an individual who advocates for the just and noble cause of the liberation and reunification of Cyprus and the restoration of human rights for all Cypriots.”

George Logothetis is the Executive Chairman of Libra Group, a privately owned, global business group with assets and operations in nearly 60 countries. He is based in New York City.

At 19, Logothetis became CEO of his family’s company, Lomar Shipping, which had three vessels at that time. The shipping business was grown into a more modern and diversified 55-vessel fleet over the next 10 years.

Logothetis is also the Chairman of the Group’s sister organization Libra Philanthropies, an independent 501(c)(3) that includes 10 philanthropic initiatives.

Previously known as Libra Social Responsibility, Libra Philanthropies’ initiatives include social impact programs, strategic giving, and independent non-profits supporting over 25 million people around the world.

Logothetis is Co-Chairman of the Leadership Council of Concordia, a member of the Board of Directors of President Barack Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance, a Global Advisory Council Member of the Wilson Center, a member of the American Democracy Month Council’s Board of Directors, and an Advisory Board Member of the Genius 100 Foundation.

According to its Mission Statement, the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations (FCAO) is a non-profit entity representing 28 Greek Cypriot American associations located throughout the United States.

Its mission is to, develop good relations and solidarity amongst its chapters, to promote their goals, and to represent their interests and the coordination of their social, educational, philanthropic, and cultural activities.

The FCAO undertakes and promotes charitable activities primarily within the Cypriot and Greek-American communities; preserving and promoting the Greek language, as well as, the Greek and Cypriot history and cultural heritage in the United States.
