Monstrous Carnesecchi! Two penalties saved from Pinamonti in three minutes
Marco Carnesecchi once again demonstrated that Atalanta’s goal is in very good hands, saving two penalties within three minutes during the first half recovery of the match against Sassuolo. The score was 1-0.
The whole situation was triggered by an unfortunate handball by Scalvini, spotted by the VAR. Pinamonti aimed for the left corner of the goalkeeper, who had been his teammate in the national youth teams. However, he didn’t manage to surprise him.
Kolasinac’s invasion before the shot pushed the referee to order the repetition: this time Sassuolo’s striker crossed with a right-footed shot at mid-height with power on the opposite side, but Carnesecchi saved again, causing the stadium to explode.
In terms of statistics, officially only one penalty saved counts, but for Marco, it’s the first one in Serie A. In his career, he has saved 11 out of 44 penalties. The last goalkeeper to save a penalty from Pinamonti in Serie A, three and a half years ago, was Musso.
