Greek Americans for Trump, an organization dedicated to mobilizing Greek American voters, hosted a highly successful lunch reception in Greektown, Detroit, Michigan underscoring President Trump’s commitment to the Greek American community.
Held at the iconic Golden Fleece restaurant, the event was co-hosted by Ambassador Richard Grenell, President Trump’s top foreign policy advisor, and Christos Marafatsos, Chair of Greek Americans for Trump.
The reception drew a full house of undecided voters eager to hear Trump’s vision and values in this critical election.
Key Issues Addressed
Ambassador Grenell and Marafatsos led an engaging dialogue with attendees, discussing issues central to Greek American values and Michigan residents.
It was reiterated during the event that the strengthening of U.S.-Greece relations remains a priority for the new Trump administration (if President Trump wins the election), with a focus on advocating for even stronger economic and political ties between the U.S. and Greece. This includes enhancing trade in key sectors such as technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and energy.
Additionally, the importance of Eastern Mediterranean stability is emphasized by reinforcing support for Greece in safeguarding regional security and maintaining peace.
A stronger NATO alliance is also another key objective, with benefits for both the U.S. and Greece.
Religious freedom is another significant concern that was mentioned, particularly in protecting Orthodox Christianity and defending the religious rights of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. In terms of foreign policy, there is a strong commitment to ending senseless wars by promoting peaceful resolutions in conflict zones such as Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine.
On the economic front, policies aimed at lowering taxes, controlling inflation, and driving economic growth are particularly important for Michigan’s Greek community. These efforts align with the broader goal of preserving family values and the American Dream, especially within the Greek American community.
During the event, it was also made clear that there needs to be a call for greater involvement from Greek Americans in the next administration.
Recognition was given to key Greek Americans currently supporting President Donald J. Trump’s re-election campaign, including Rep. Gus Bilirakis, Christos Marafatsos, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Michael Kratsios, Michael Rigas, Alexandra Veletsis, James Rockas, Tommy Andrews, Jack Kalavritinos, Constandina Economides, Alex Angelson, Maria Giannopoulos, Athina Lawson, James Kyrkanides, Jimmy Svolos, George Kaplanidis, James Hunt, and Greg Steele.
Ambassador Grenell emphasized that President Trump is the only candidate truly committed to advancing the interests of the community.
Grenell highlighted Trump’s vision for Michigan to revitalize the auto and hospitality industries and boost entrepreneurial growth.
“This event was a pivotal opportunity to connect with Greek Americans in Michigan, who have a critical role in this election,” said Grenell.
Marafatsos inspired the crowd to take action, saying, “This is a defining moment, and Greek Americans have a powerful voice in re-electing President Trump. Under his leadership, we’ve seen real results that protect our traditions, strengthen our businesses,
and champion religious freedoms dear to our hearts. His unwavering commitment to our community’s values and our heritage makes him the right choice to lead us forward. Rally your friends and family and ensure your vote counts.”
