Sanny Baltzi to journalists: You, the new generation, need to change the television you receive. ‘You should be our strength, not the people we feel attacked by,’ the lyricist and author continued. Watch the video at Sanny Baltzi
Sanny Baltzi welcomed people from the music and television industry at the presentation of her first poetry collection titled ‘Anthropophagous.’
The lyricist and author made some statements on the television cameras that were present on Monday afternoon at the Central Hall of Events of the Philological Association ‘Parnassos,’ initially speaking about her new book: ‘I am very happy, very moved, anthropophagous out of love, perhaps, or out of fear. The title may seem harsh; I hope you don’t believe that I am the anthropophagous one. The era is anthropophagous.’
Later, when asked about attacks against journalists, such as the recent outbursts by Giorgos Dalaras, Sanny Baltzi commented: ‘It’s nice when they tell us something for us to understand. I think a large part of the world is affected, especially those exposed in the media.
Some things have gone too far; television is very sterile, it’s old-fashioned. It’s trendy that if you’re anorexic, I’ll ask you about anorexia, it’s trendy that if it’s MeToo, I’ll ask about MeToo. I believe you need to be more imaginative, and you, the new generation, need to change all this, change the television you received, and we all hope for that because a journalist has power and should be our strength, not the people we feel attacked by.’
Then, a reporter asked, ‘When a person expresses their opinion, and we go to ask the person’s opinion who has sparked all this discussion, in what way do we attack the person who has initiated the conversation?’ Sanny Baltzi responded: ‘It depends on where you go, under what conditions you go, in what context you are, to respect him. All these depend on that.
