Anduril Industries, a US defense technology company, has just unveiled a new line of missiles to revolutionize the arms industry.

Anduril, named after Aragorn’s legendary sword in the The Lord of the Rings, revealed its Barracuda-M line of missiles that they say will be 30 percent more affordable than anything else on the market and is 50 percent faster to produce.

Anduril Industries

Anduril is a defense technology company that takes a different approach to achieving its purpose. Unlike most companies, Anduril focuses primarily on software engineering and computing when building weapons. The company’s Lattice OS is its centerpiece, and it is geared toward making their weapons autonomous.

“Lattice OS is an autonomous sensemaking and command and control platform that serves as the core platform for our suite of capabilities,” Anduril says on its website.

Silicon Valley’s software minds are combined with US veterans’ know-how. Anduril’s goal is to provide the US military with enough missiles to deter enemy forces, as company leaders believe the US doesn’t have enough munitions to achieve those ends.

Anduril Industries has a factory in Rhode Island, USA. It currently produces up to 200 underwater drones for the US Navy and the Royal Australian Navy. The company has other factories across the United States and just invested $75 million to build a new Mississippi factory that will make the rocket engines for its missiles.

The Barracuda-M Line to revolutionize the arms industry

The Barracuda-M line is Anduril’s latest advancement in military technology. The air-breathing Autonomous Air Vehicles are built for mass production, using technology to make it possible.

“Barracuda-M is the munition configuration of Barracuda that delivers a more affordable, producible, available, and adaptable cruise missile capability than existing options available to warfighters today,” Anduril said in the press release unveiling the missile line.

The precision-targeting missiles are available in three sizes: Barracuda-100M, Barracuda-250M, and Barracuda-500M. They can be used on land, in the air, and on warships. Anduril makes the missiles use more readily available components, which cuts costs and manufacturing time.

“Every Barracuda variant is made up of a handful of common subsystems to ensure that the missiles can be rapidly optimized based on changing mission needs,” Anduril said. New subsystems can be rapidly swapped into live production lines when threats evolve, and new technologies emerge, providing warfighters with the agility required to adapt at mission speed.”

The Barracuda-M line should be fundamental in helping Anduril achieve its goal of supplying the US military with enough missiles to deter its enemies. The new technology could be built rapidly and adapt to any situation, allowing Anduril to revolutionize the arms industry with a new addition to the US Military’s munitions stockpile.
