Fifteen years after their infamous break-up, Liam and Noel Gallagher have made amends and reformed Oasis for a run of concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland for 2025. Oasis Live ’25 was announced on the morning of Tuesday, August 27, to the surprise of millions of fans around the world.

The legendary Manchester band will play gigs in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin in the summer of 2025. A press release notes that these are the only European shows on their plans, but it is speculated that they will tour other continents in 2025.

Oasis announced it got back together through their X account

The official Oasis account on X (formerly known as Twitter) put out two announcements. The first one read: “This is it, this is happening,” as they announced the dates for the tour.

The second message spoke directly to the fans, saying “The guns have fallen silent, the stars have aligned, the great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

The confirmation of Oasis reuniting broke the internet, as the announcement has surpassed 200,000 likes and 7.7 million views on X and has spawned countless memes and comments on social media.

The band had previously sparked expectations from fans after both Gallagher brothers posted teasers for an Oasis-related announcement on their personal accounts, but fans remained unsure whether a reunion was actually in the works.

This is because the date coincided with the 2024 Leeds and Reading Festival which the band headlined in 2000 as well as the 30th anniversary of their legendary record Definitely Maybe.

This prompted fans to be skeptical about getting their hopes up over a possible reunion, as similar rumors have spawned in the past but never led anywhere.

The band that defined Britpop and the 90s

Oasis is the single most influential British rock band of the last 30 years. They defined a time and a place, the 90s, Britain, and what it meant to be young at the time. They single-handedly made being British cool again, as former footballer Stan Collymore said through his X account.

However, for fans, this is almost surreal, as the band’s messy breakup made a reunion seem impossible. The band disbanded in August 2009 after years of internal conflicts and tension between Noel and Liam Gallagher finally combusted and resulted in Noel’s leaving the band.

Since Oasis disbanded, both Gallagher brothers have constantly attacked each other through tabloids and social media and have remained focused on their projects as solo artists.

Tickets for the legendary reunion will go on sale from 9 a.m. local time on Saturday, August 31st and will be available for purchase through Ticketmaster.
